Abstract
After the invention of photography and followed by the birth of cinema, both these arts went through the path of growth and evolution with a distance of less than a century. A photographer who had experienced various experiences from 1837 to 1896, which is the birth of cinema. It emerged as a guide to cinema both in terms of technique and theme. This new art of cinema stole the lead from other arts in attracting the audience and gradually became the most influential art of the time. The new cinema was not only indebted to photography, but also indebted to literature, painting, theater and music. But the direct connection between photography and cinema with the recorded image made the interaction between the two more prominent than other arts. On the other hand, the currents of thought at the same time as the birth of cinema also brought about special theoretical discussions that resulted in photography theories and film theories. The purpose of this study is to show the influence of cinema on contemporary photography and to find the answer for why this influence, using theoretical studies conducted in this field by the method of descriptive study, analysis of written sources and visual sources with an approach to the opinions of thinkers such as Walter Benjamin, especially in the article of Art in the era of technical reproduction, Henri Cartier-Bresson and the theory of the definitive moment and newer theories such as Gilles Deleuze's image of time. The currents of thought that seem to have reversed the influence of cinema on the arts and changed the direction of the influence of cinema on other arts. Now at the beginning of the 21st century and following the intellectual developments of the end of the 20th century, this is the trace of cinema that is seen on photography. Following these developments, the study of factors such as time, stillness, frame, movement, continuity and sequence shows that a new form of visual language has been established in cinema and photography.
